CannonDesign has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Practice Student Intern to work on a full or part-time temporary basis in our Chicago office. We are an integrated global design firm that unites a dynamic team of strategists, futurists, researchers, architects, engineers, and industry specialists driven by a singular goal - to help solve our clients and societys greatest challenges.
The successful candidate will possess an artistic eye in a technological world, hunger for learning new tools, and have the ability to think outside the box. Primary responsibilities will include the following:
  • Provide support for all of our various design software.
  • Help to develop tools and processes in the following areas:
    • Virtual reality and visualization.
    • Performance analysis.
    • Computational design.
    • Visual programming.
    • Data visualization.
    • Knowledge sharing/management.
    • Artificial Intelligence.


Qualified candidates must be enrolled in an accredited program working toward a Bachelor or Masters degree in Architecture or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Interior Design, Visual and Game Programming, Sotftware Development for Creative Technologies or a related field. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team setting is a must. The ideal candidate will have experience with architecture and design software (i.e. Revit and AutoCAD), proficiency with modeling software (I.e. 3ds MAX, Sketchup, and Rhino), and experience with rendering engines like Vray and Iray.  Understanding of visual scripting and computational design, knowledge of graphics software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere), and experience with video game design, especially using the Unity or Unreal game engines preferred. Interest and experience with virtual reality technology like Oculus and HTC Vive, and understanding of the concepts of 3d modeling also preferred.  Click on apply now to upload your resume and portfolio.
