CannonDesign has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineering Technician based in our Chicago office. The successful candidate will be a member of our multi-disciplinary team. Projects include new construction and renovation in educational, healthcare, sports, corporate commercial and science and technology. Primary responsibilities will include the following:
 
  • Performs specific design functions for the project as assigned, process work assignments meeting assigned schedules and deadlines.
  • Ensures that the design concept and drawings are complete meeting Cannon Design standards and applicable codes.
  • Performs drafting and detailing of drawings using AutoCAD and/or REVIT technology.
  • Generate drawings from sketches, calculations, architectural and structural construction documents and verbal discussions.
  • Prepare grid layout, plans, elevations, sections details and connections related to a variety of projects including commercial buildings, hospitals, schools and college/universities.
  • Finish and duplicate structural drawings according to required mediums and specifications.
  • May attend structural and Project team meetings and may do field site visits. May perform other duties as required.

    Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of related experience.  Associate Degree in StructuralTechnology or related field preferred.  Proficiency in Revit MEP and MS Office required.
